System

A New Level of Officer Safety

® CUFFSAFE INDUSTRIES Would like to introduce you to the CUFFSAFE device.

Designed in line with health and safety work practices, the CUFFSAFE device's primary function is to assist Law Enforcement and Corrective Service personnel in the removal and application of handcuffs to and from prisoners or detainees.

This internationally patented device is the result of many years of research and consultation with experienced law enforcement personnel that has produced a machine that will take officer safety to a NEW level when dealing with offenders within your work place.

This may be within a:

  • Police Station or Charge Room

  • The Holding cells in the local court house

  • Pre-trial detention centre

  • Corrective service facility to name a few.

IDENTIFIED RISK

Prisoners or detainees DO pose a real threat of violence to an arresting officer or custodial staff, especially when having to remove or apply handcuffs to or from a person that is usually unknown to them or they have very little knowledge of.

This is mainly due to the fact that the officer has to have physical contact with the prisoner/detainee in order to remove or apply handcuffs to that person.

Whilst the officer is removing the handcuffs from the detainee, he is usually required to focus on the key barrels of the cuffs to insert the key, NOT the detainee!

This risk or threat of violence is increased because of the officer being within a single arm's length of the detainee.

By using the CUFFSAFE device, the risk of injury is substantially reduced by securing the detainee and in turn, eliminating the potential for elbow strikes, punches and head butt strikes to the officer.

SOLUTION

The CUFFSAFE device promotes Officer Safety by creating a 'SAFETY ZONE'.

This is a safe working distance between the officer and the detainee, which is maintained by the formation of a physical barrier between the two persons.

The CUFFSAFE device secures the handcuffs by locking the centre portion of the handcuffs into the head of the device, which in turn secures the prisoner/detainee.  It does not matter if one hand or both hands are cuffed, because the CUFFSAFE device will NOT allow the handcuffs to pull through the opening in the device.

A SAFER WAY TO SEARCH

Not only does the CUFFSAFE device STOP the potential for the handcuffs to be used as a weapon by the detainee, it is also an invaluable tool when custodial staff are required to perform a mandatory search or 'pat down' of a non compliant detainee or prisoner.

The CUFFSAFE device is especially suited to restraining detainees during the finger printing process.  The detainee's hands can be released one hand at a time for finger printing reducing the risk during this common process.

SPECIFICATION

The CUFFSAFE device has an adjustable drop down plate to accommodate either chained or hinged handcuffs.

It is made of all steel construction and relies on a spring bias to perform its function, therefore eliminating the need for a power supply.

The CUFFSAFE device is available in two standard heights:

1252mm/50 inches (from base to top)

1100mm/44 inches (from base to top)

Note: Can be ordered in a custom height measurement if required.

The average weight of the device is between 35kg/77lbs and 40kg/88lbs dependant upon height.

Secured to floor or structure by way of 4x stainless steel 'dyna' bolts/fasteners and with a very short installation time of 40 minutes.

OPTIONS

"Bi LOK" locking system that deadlocks the device.

'Polyurethane impact cover' that minimises any injury that could be sustained in coming into contact with the head unit of the device.

The CUFFSAFE device offers a NEW LEVEL of safety for the Law Enforcement Community when working with prisoners or detainees and is unmatched for its cost, effectiveness and space efficiency as a temporary restraint device.
